The best of an oaked and unoaked Chardonnay in one bottle, today’s deal is The Girls In The Vineyard Napa Valley Chardonnay.
It’s another excellent offering from Art+Farm wines and their Girls In The Vineyard label. Today it’s about the Chardonnay and this one is a fantastic example made from a combination of two Napa Valley vineyards.
The grapes from the first vineyard are unoaked and they show off the wonderful Chardonnay fruit. The grapes from the second vineyard are barrel fermented in older French oak and they bring the butter and wonderful texture.
Together it’s a killer combo that we score at 92 Points but it almost never came to be as the winery never thought they’d make a 100% Chardonnay:
Confession time. We were not lovers of Chardonnay. Sure, sometimes we’d find a pleasant one, but they never seem to hold our interest for long. We were also never interested in making Chardonnay. Until, we tasted this fruit. We fell in love.
Why? Delicious, bright, fresh fruit flavors on the nose and palate. The perfect mouth coating texture and subtle French oak character that lingers long after you swallow. Fresh, rich and delicate all at once. What’s not to love?
