Seppeltsfield The Westing Shiraz 2022, Barossa Valley, AUD $85

The Westing is part of the Grounds Collection, exploring the four points of the compass around the Barossa Valley. Matured for 14 months in new and seasoned French oak hogsheads.

Opaque core, deep ruby and purple at the rim. Blueberry, violets and vanilla pod aromatics. Full bodied on the palate but with a sense of poise and reserve. Blue fruits have weight and power but they don’t run away, pepper spices, dark stones and boudin noir savouries all build balance and tannins bring tension and drive to the flow. Goes incredibly long and offers a lot of hints that there is more to come over time. (Screwcap)
