California’s Wine Country Workhorse

Join the Journey as Monique Soltani travels to California’s Great Central Valley and uncovers Yosemite Wine Country!

Officially established in the 1980s, the Madera American Viticultural Area spans all of Madera County and portions of Fresno county in California’s Central Valley. The Madera AVA is no to be confused with the place or the fortified wine…Madeira.

Among the California ag land you will find one of the top Viticulture and Enology programs in the nation.

Fresno State is home to the nation’s first fully operational, commercially bonded university winery.

Today, Fresno State Winery is still the largest commercial winery on a university campus.

In this episode, we go inside America’s oldest port winery, go ax throwing in Oakhurst with world champion Nate Hodges, rock climbing in Yosemite with Ron Kauk one of the world’s best (he trained Sly and Tom Cruise). Then it’s all aboard the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, time travel at Fresno Flats, and so much more!!!
