Online wine retailer Virgin Wines has launched a limited-edition wine range, the Vineyard Collection, which it says has been created from its own vines. The wine comes from five regions around the world, Riebeek and Franschhoek in South Africa, East Sussex in England, Roussillon in France, and McLaren Vale in Australia. “Each wine is selected from a blend of Virgin Wines’ own vines of the highest quality, produced in low volumes,” the company said. Virgin Wine’s CEO Jay Wright said that the move build on the previous involvement of its buying teams in the winemaking process. “We have decided to take this one step further and put our [proverbial] flag in the ground by securing a number of vineyard plots around the globe and creating our own wines from those select locations.” He said the project showcased the company’s existing winemaking expertise as well as “the passion and dedication that goes into every wine we create across our full portfolio”. The company’s senior buyer, Dave Roberts, called the project a “testament to the collaborative spirit between our team and some of the finest vineyards, who we know well and have worked with for over 20 years.”
