Vignobles Lacheateau, a large negociant producer in France, is a name you likely recognize from a number of our recommended Trader Joe’s white wines from the Loire Valley. These include the Vignobles Lacheteau Vouvray, the Vignobles Lacheteau Pouilly Fumé and the Vignobles Lacheteau Muscadet Sevre-et-Maine Sur Lie.
Chinon is a predominantly red wine region of the Loire Valley (centered around the town of Chinon) that produces wines made from Cabernet Franc. It’s a great area to explore this variety. Let’s check today’s wine out.

Made from Cabernet Franc grape variety, this Chinon gives an expressive bouquet with notes of red fruits and spices. Harmonious with fruity aromas, it goes well with meat and cheese.

The 2023 Vignobles Lacheteau Chinon Cabernet Franc opens with a pleasing aroma of black cherry, a bit of green pepper and some other herbal notes along with a touch of mint and balsa wood. It’s an attractive start.
Tasting the smooth, medium-bodied wine reveals it to be nice and easy to drink with similar flavors to the nose. It’s not super deep but it hits a lot of good notes, especially for the price.
