, Value across the board

We are in a great period for wine in Australia at all price levels. The Real Review

Top Value Wines Feature Week

Having recently completed our annual update of Top Value Wines for The Real Review and judging at the Riverina Wine Show in Griffith means I’ve been in the thick of wines that are definitely great value.

As a passionate wine drinker, buyer and seller I often get caught up in the higher price end of wine and all its nuances and details, but that is actually such a small percentage of the wines produced, sold and consumed, so it is always good to re-calibrate and have a deep dive into the AUD $25 and under segment of the market.

To produce quality wine at these prices takes knowledge and skill from the winemaking team but other factors, such as the variety and region also come into play.

I have been impressed across the board with the overall quality of these wines. It certainly feels to me that Australian wine continues to improve year on year, with very few wines that I scored into the faulty zone. Having judged wine shows for 12+ years, it is great to see this trend continuing in the commercial classes and that has been backed up by my experience over the past three years of contributing to The Real Review.
