Montepulciano the grape variety is not to be confused with the Tuscan region Montepulciano, which is made from sangiovese.
Opaque core to a deeply stained purple rim. Blackberry, sarsaparilla and cinnamon aromatics. Full bodied with loads of black fruits filling the senses. That intensity has a been well matched to equally powerful, finely grained tannins and whilst it lingers long, pepper spice and dark slate minerality all show themselves. Time should see more of those savoury elements build more complexity. (Screwcap)
