Today I decided to pull two bottles that I received from two different wineries. Not because they were the same grape variety or style, but because I enjoy the wines from these wineries and I was interested to taste these two wines. Sauvignon Blanc is a refreshing white wine with bright acidity. Rosé wines as well can also be, but have an additional layer of red fruit flavours and a touch of tannic structure. I enjoyed opening these two wines and even though it is no longer summer, you can enjoy these wines now and then when the rains come on a daily basis at home with a nice assortment of cheese. I present to you Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars Estate Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc 2022 and Hester Creek Estate Winery Cabernet Franc Rosé 2022.
My Wine Tasting Notes Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars Estate Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc 2022 (BC $25.90)
Appearance: A bright clear pale lemon-green colour.
Nose: Lighter aromas of orange, lemon and ripe stone fruits. I also picked up some grape stems and light toastiness. Bump the aromatic intensity up to medium and add pine needle scents after decanting.
Palate: This wine is dry, with a medium body and a smooth lean mouthfeel. Medium-plus flavour intensity of citrus, ripe stone fruits, a touch of toast and prominent minerality. A wine with acidic tension. The wine becomes rounder with decanting, more stone fruit and citrus flavours and less toast and grape stem.
