Destiny Bay Magna Praemia 2021 – 99 points Destiny Bay Mystae 2021 – 97 points Destiny Bay Destinae 2021 – 98 points
The Two Merits debuts are almost all pinot noirs, and interestingly, they are not all of the same style or even from the same regions. Let’s examine them more closely.
This was initiated by Larry McKenna when Escarpment launched and was made up to and including 2015. The vineyard, which was located in the heart of Martinborough Terraces, within the town, was then sold and is now known as On Giant’s Shoulders. The Pahi name was resurrected in 2020 with fruit from a different site, on Te Muna Terraces. Tim Bourne is now the winemaker following McKenna’s retirement, and the wine has found its feet again.
