While the famous names such as Arras, Jansz, Chandon and Croser are deservedly popular and known, there is a second wave of great sparkling producers doing wonderful work. Here are 10 of their best wines that I’ve discovered this year.

Swift Chardonnay Pinot Noir Vintage Brut 2015, Orange

The Swift family’s modern Printhie cellar door/restaurant is on the lower slopes of Mt Canobolas near Orange. Winemaker Drew Tuckwell specialises in bubbly with long time on lees, and this current release has had seven years pre-disgorgement. A magic wine with a string of show trophies to its credit. 65% chardonnay 35% pinot noir, with an Extra Brut dosage level of 5.2 grams per litre. (AUD $70 – 96 points)
