Zonzo Estate Chardonnay 2022, Yarra Valley, AUD $27
The wines of Zonzo Estate are a relative newcomer to me and it’s refreshing to come across wines that display regional and varietal purity, as well as delivering big value for money. This chardonnay has undergone around 40% malolactic fermentation, which really does add some lovely mouth-feel, weight and presence to the palate.
Aromas of citrus, nectarine, nutty oak, cut straw, spice and melon skin. Textured, mouth-filling and very satisfying in flavour. There’s plenty of stone fruit, grapefruit and a textured creaminess. Long, layered and smart value. (Screwcap)
