, Sipping Your Way Through December: Wine 8

Here’s the eighth installment of The Wine Chef’s December “Advent Calendar” wine series.

Cleto Chiarli Rosé de Noir Brut (SRP $18)

Cleto Chiarli Rosé de Noir Brut Vino Spumante is a sparkling wine that joyfully nods to tradition. Back in the day, around Modena, Italy, workers used to cool off with a light, pink, fizzy wine made from the runoff juice of grapes piled high on carts headed for the winery. The Chiarli family has taken that old-school tradition and given it a modern twist, creating this delicious bubbly rosé.

Made mostly from Lambrusco Grasparossa grapes with a touch of Pinot Nero, this Rosé gets its lovely pink hue from a brief time of skin contact. It’s the kind of wine that makes moments unforgettable. In fact, right before my daughter walked down the aisle to get married, the wedding party gathered for a Champagne toast. After a sip or two of Champagne, I decided to pop open the Rosé—and let me tell you, it was just as delicious! It tastes like it was made in a room full of strawberries and roses! Its bright, fruity, and floral notes were the perfect balance of celebratory and refreshing.

This wine is guaranteed to add a little sparkle to your holidays. Cheers!
