, Seemless maturity

Scotchmans Hill Cornelius Syrah 2017, Geelong, AUD $78

This spent 18 months in 50% new and 50% one year-old French oak barriques.

Deep ruby red core, moving more to brick red at the rim. Ripe blackberry, leather and undergrowth aromas. Full bodied with dark fruits filling the core. Showing savoury earth and leather notes that are consistent with bottle maturity; all the while fine tannins caress it quite long. A wine to drink now or in the very near future but will reward the drinker with its seamless mature characters. (Screwcap)
