Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW) was established in 2018 with a strict certification process for which the region’s producers are able to apply.
The 12 wines selected to comprise the 2023 collection range from $17 to $36 and encompass a broad range of winemaking techniques
The AMW quality mark is a guarantee that the wine is made from grapes that are 100% sourced from Marlborough, is bottled in New Zealand, is from vineyards certified by a recognised sustainable viticulture scheme and made from grapes cropped at or below a set of parameters established according to soil type and vine density variability.
Once a year the AMW invites its members to submit sauvignon blanc samples for its annual selection. This year over 70 new release sauvignon blancs were blind-tasted by an independent review panel made up of Jane Skilton MW, Erin Larkin and Andrea Martinisi. The top 12 wines were:
