The Swift Cuvée Brut NV has been aged on its yeast lees for almost six years. Printhie Wines

While the spotlight for Australian sparkling wine currently shines brightest on Tasmania and the Adelaide Hills, the Swift family of Printhie have been patiently beavering away in the Orange region, making outstanding bubbly since 2010.

Evidence of their commitment to the ‘long game’ of high-quality bubbles is the fact that their current non-vintage release, Swift Cuvée Brut NV (AUD $52), has been aged on its yeast lees for almost six years, and the current Swift Vintage Brut is a 2015 vintage, which has had nearly seven years on lees.

The wines are all excellent, my favourite of the moment being the 2015 Vintage Brut, which has garnered a swag of gold medals and trophies.

That’s not their oldest sparkling wine. That would be their Swift Blanc de Blancs Vintage 2011 (AUD $150), which has spent 11 ½ years on lees.

That’s patience for you.

The wines are all excellent, my favourite of the moment being the 2015 Vintage Brut (AUD $70), which has garnered a swag of gold medals and trophies, most recently trophies for the best sparkling wine at both the 2023 NSW Wine Awards and 2023 Royal Adelaide Wine Show. Its triumph in the 2023 NSW Wine Awards was the sixth consecutive year a Swift sparkling wine has won this trophy, which it’s taken home in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
