As a fan of light-bodied red wines, I was immediately enthralled by Nerello Mascalese, the primary red grape of Etna, Sicily. Nerello Mascalese offers red fruit flavors, aromas of dried floral herbs, and spice and earth notes with tingling acidity and medium tannins. About Camporè Fumante Wines

Camporè, which means “field of the king” is located in Randazzo on the Northeast side of Etna in Sicily. It was founded by sisters Maria Pia and Cristina Madaudo in 2016. The Madaudo family is based in Messina in the western corner of Sicily and the Madaudo family has been producing wine in this area since 1945.

Their father Andrea Madaudo, the winemaker, wanted to make wine from the volcanic soils in Etna. He found the property which had been a home of King Vittorio Emanuele the 2nd in the 18th century. They have eight hectares of grapes planted, including 80-100-year-old Nerello Mascalese and are located in the Contrada of San Lorenzo.
