It’s always fun seeing new wineries start up especially when they are small wineries born from the love of wine. One new winery that just opened up this September in Boerne, Texas, is Platinum Brix Winery. The winery is owned by Jeff Berwell and he is also the winemaker.
I stopped by on a Thursday in downtown Boerne to visit the winery. The winery has a tasting room inside 248 N. Main St. Château next door to the Boerne Visitors Center. The building also houses a boutique shop where you can shop while sipping on Platinum Brix wine.
Owner Jeff Berwell led me through a tasting of his wines that are made at his winery location elsewhere in town. The tasting room makes a convenient location now for people to find and enjoy his wines while enjoying the boutique shop.
Wine tastings are done by flight where you can select four wines. There is a chocolate pairing add-on that can also be added. These are the wines currently available at Platinum Brix Winery:
Sauvignon Blanc Novem Chardonnay Riesling – semi-dry Platinum Peach (Peach Chardonnay infused with peaches) Pinot Noir (85% Pinot Noir, 15% Syrah). This is a Cab drinker’s Pinot. Cabernet Sauvignon (93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 1% Petite Sirah) Strawberry Rosé (White Merlot infused with strawberries) – semi-sweet Truffled
