Waiheke wine producer, Man O’War, could be described as a boutique winery and yet it has 75 of the island’s 100 vineyards, most of which are on the eastern end of the island on their 1,772-hectare farm.
Their first vines were planted in 1993 and have evolved rapidly with the help of vine age and careful viticulture.
It is hardly surprising that Man O’War consistently produces some of Waiheke’s top wines given their experience in selecting top vineyard sites, their well-equipped winery and their experienced and adventurous winemaker, Duncan McTavish.
Their first vines were planted in 1993 and have evolved rapidly with the help of vine age and careful viticulture.
It is hard to single out Man O’War’s most distinguished wines but the recently released, high-scoring Dreadnought Syrah and the bold, blended red, Ironclad, must certainly be candidates.
