We had a chance to visit the winery a few years ago and spend some time with Jim Pedroncelli, who along with his brother John, bought the winery from their father in 1963.
John Sr started the winery in 1927 (during Prohibition!) and managed to stay in business by selling grapes to home winemakers. By the time the 21st amendment was passed (repealing Prohibition) the winery was one of just four remaining in Dry Creek Valley. Now over 95 years later they are on to the fourth generation!
Over the years we’ve had a chance to taste many wines from Pedroncelli and have always been impressed, but one of our very favorites is the Mother Clone Zinfandel.
