, Geordies take the longest to choose a bottle of wine, study finds

A survey by M&S which looks at which Brits take the longest to choose wine shows that Newcastle residents procrastinate the most. How long does it take you, on average, to select a bottle of wine? Your answer may depend partly on where you live. According to a survey by retailer M&S, most people (73%) tend to make a wine choice within 10 minutes. Almost half (41%) are able to make an even faster decision, choosing a wine in just five minutes. However, 8% of Brits surveyed take a longer time of 15 minutes or more to nail down a wine choice. Of this less decisive bunch, those from Newcastle make up the highest proportion, accounting for 14% of those who take 15 minutes or longer to choose a wine. Those in the East Midlands (Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland) make the speediest wine choices with just 5% of residents taking the longer time to settle on a choice. Aside from location, the survey results suggested that men take longer to make a wine choice than women, with 11% of male respondents taking more than 15 minutes to choose a bottle compared with 5% of women.
