This has been a reliable ALDI brand for many years, although the level of reduction (sulphide) in the chardonnay can polarise tasters. This vintage caused us more anxiety than usual. It’s made by one of the leading wineries in Margaret River.
Light yellow hue with a smoky/struck flint sulfide-dominant bouquet, and if you give the wine time you’ll also find toasted nuts, stone-fruit and ripe apple flavours. There’s plenty happening here: a generous chardonnay at a remarkable price. (Screwcap)
