Singlefile Single Vineyard Fumé Blanc 2023, Porongurup, AUD $35
This is one layered and multi-faceted sauvignon blanc! There’s plenty of oak at play in an old-school fumé blanc style, and it works wonderfully well. A portion of the powerful and vivacious fruit goes through barrel fermentation and this really frames the wine nicely and adds a whole lot of interesting aromas and flavours.
Complex aromas of nutty oak, vanilla, lantana, white stone-fruits, gooseberry and sweet spice. The palate is rich, creamy and mouth-filling. Plush oak is at play and it wraps around the nectarine, peach and melon flavours nicely. Long, complex and with plenty going on. (screwcap)
