In 2022, the fruit came entirely from the organic Wrekin Vineyard. Aged in both barrique and 600-litre oak (only 10% being new), a portion was also kept in stainless steel tank for more freshness. An excellent, well-priced choice to fill out the drinking parts of a cellar.
Lively, detailed floral and white fruit aromas with crisp apple and citrus with a hint of smoky flint. Etched on the palate in pithy phenolics are clean, subtle but crystalline flavours with a strong streak of chalky minerality. Complex, poised and sophisticated with no perceptible oakiness, the mid-weight flavours are accessible but clearly able to evolve and improve in the near-term. (Screwcap)
