It is the holiday season and many of us think about opening a bottle of sparkling wine; champagne if we are able. Bureau du Champagne USA sent me this email outlining food pairings for specific holiday dates and the suggested champagne style. Here is a copy of the email.
Perfect Champagne Pairings for Every Holiday Celebration (Image courtesy Bureau du Champagne USA)
The holiday season is a time for gathering with loved ones, savouring rich flavours, and toasting to joy and togetherness. Whether you’re celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s Eve, or Kwanzaa, we’ve paired iconic holiday dishes with the perfect Champagnes to elevate your celebrations.
Christmas: Glazed Ham & Vintage Rosé
A vintage extra dry rosé made from Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay with seven to 10 years of bottle age is an ideal pairing. The richness of both the ham and the richness and sweetness of the glaze and this complex wine with a minimum of 8 grams per liter dosage strike a beautiful balance.
Hanukkah: Latkes with Sour Cream and Caviar & NV Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay)
Crispy, golden latkes topped with silky sour cream and briny caviar deserve an equally luxurious partner. Enter Blanc de Blancs. This crisp, vibrant Champagne cuts through the oiliness of the latkes while enhancing the delicate, salty notes of the caviar with its refined minerality and zesty brightness.
New Year’s: Roasted
