Well, well, well, what do we have here? It’s another $5.99 Chianti from Aldi. We’ve recommended the Adventure Series Chianti found at Aldi for several years and at our last stop found this example next to it on the shelf. It seems a bit surprising that a retailer like Aldi, which has a pretty limited wine section in most stores, would have two Chianti at the same price, but perhaps this one offers something different. Let’s check it out!

A bright ruby red wine from central Tuscany with a distinct bouquet and balanced flavors. Red fruit aromas meet warming spices, with intense and persistent flavors on the nose.

The 2023 Castellore Chianti DOCG opens with aromas of black cherry, a little leather and spice and touches of licorice, mint and some forest floor. In what seems to be the theme of this wine, it’s pretty respectable for the price.
Taking a sip reveals it to be simple but tasty. This is a nice inexpensive option to pair with a frozen pizza. It lacks a bit of depth but once again (and just like the Adventure Series Chianti), it’s really
