Margan Ceres Hill Barbera 2023, Broke Fordwich, AUD $50

Malolactic fermentation was carried out naturally in seasoned French oak puncheons before a relatively short elevage and bottling in late spring.

Very deep ruby core, purple tints into the rim. Black cherry, thyme, rosemary and dark loam aromatics. Medium to full with black fruits at its core: there are many layers of dried herbs, dark earth and notes of black spices along the very long palate. All bound up in firm Italianate tannins that drive and dry the very long finish. Food would make the most of its savoury complexity and structure. (Screwcap)
