I have always been someone who believes that bubbly should not be saved for a special occasion; it should be enjoyed regularly. The celebratory feeling of just popping the cork never fails to put a sparkle in my eye.
Recently, I had the chance to try samples of two champagnes and one sparkling. And since it’s my daughter’s 18th birthday this weekend, it’s a time for celebration.
2022 Bird in Hand Sparkling — this was my first Australian sparkling and I really enjoyed it. The wine was made with the best individual parcels of mostly Pinot Noir grapes. I tasted strawberries, citrus and cherry and it had a very floral nose.
NV Nicolas Feuillatte Reserve Exclusive Rosé Champagne – I tasted ginger, brioche, strawberry, raspberry, peach and cherry. The color in the glass was vivid and this blend of 10 percent chardonnay, 45 percent pinot noir and 45 percent Meunier is delicious.
NV Pommery Brut Royal Champagne — I tasted apple, stone fruit, and honeycomb with a nice minerality and toastiness that makes you return for another sip.
As my husband and I toast to an amazing daughter, I hope you have some bubbly that will add a sparkle to your eye.
