The latest tranche of four Seppelt ‘luxury’ wines sees winemaker Clare Dry’s first vintage of Seppelt St Peters Shiraz (2021) released, and it’s a smashing wine.

Its arrival couldn’t be more timely when lesser-known gems of the Treasury Wine Estates portfolio appear to be under pressure. Their survival is under a cloud.

It’s a while since I’ve scored a wine 99 points, and that’s as high as I go. This Seppelt St Peters Shiraz is a great wine.

Other brands that are peripheral to TWE’s main game are Leo Buring, Lindemans, and St Hubert’s. Leo Buring’s name doesn’t even appear on the present TWE website. Big companies with multiple brands have difficulty keeping them alive, even as they channel their marketing muscle into newer brands such as 19 Crimes, Squealing Pig and Pepperjack.
