, Taut and terrific

Pepper Tree Alluvius Semillon 2024, Hunter Valley, AUD $55

The grapes were grown in the sandy soils of Casuarina Vineyard on Hermitage Road, Pokolbin.

The wine is taut and tense all round: aromas of dry grass and lemongrass, the palate bright and firm with a tannin/acid grip, pepper and nettles on the finish, which is seriously dry, austere and firm, the farewell lingering for a long time. A generous and accessible style of semillon, of impressive intensity and length. (Screwcap)
