Tohu Awatere Valley Pinot Noir 2022, Marlborough, NZD $25

Tohu has vineyards in the Awatere and Moutere, representing Wakatū’s holdings in Marlborough and Nelson. They are (as part of Kono) the only iwi-owned wine producer in the world as its stakeholders are the members of the four iwi who make up Wakatū. Awatere pinot noir is quite distinct, often with a more delicate and herb-tinged perfume from the cooler mesoclimate of the valley.

Light, fragrant pinot noir with floral/cherry blossom, violet, black cherry and subtle spice/anise flavours. Supple wine with surprising power and a lengthy finish. Appealing wine in a lighter style. (screwcap)
