In Dreams Pinot Noir 2022, Yarra Valley, AUD $35
A new label for me and what a smart discovery it is. The fruit is selected from vineyards across the cool, higher altitude vineyards of Seville in the Upper Yarra and St Andrews in the far north-west of the Yarra, partnering with fruit from Coldstream and Dixons Creek from the lower altitude valley floor. Clones utilised are a mix of Abel, MV6, 114 and 115 and there’s a 15% whole bunch component which delivers a little more exotica to the wine. It’s really smart value as well.
Pretty and lifted aromas of dried herbs, sap, spice, cherry and bruised strawberry. Fresh, bright and lively on the palate. The flavours are in the cherry, red fruits zone along with creamy, nutty oak and a brambly, wild fruit character. Tannins are shapely and the acidity has life and kick. A youthful pinot noir with plenty to like now, but a few years tucked away will benefit it greatly. (Screwcap)
