Ngeringa Iluma Vineyard Viognier 2022, Adelaide Hills, AUD $70
Made as two components, with 50% fermented on skins for five days and 50% whole-bunch pressed.
Bright lemon-yellow hue. Apricot pastry and gardenia florals leap from the glass. Palate mirrors the nose with lovely bright stone fruits and an addition of lemon thyme with a bright, crunchy acid line. There’s a defining contrast of structure and fruit which builds tension as it rolls long to the finish. There’s a lot to enjoy now but it will really come into its own with further bottle age. (Diam)
