The 2024 TEXSOM Awards has been announced and these are results for Texas wineries. The TEXSOM Awards judging took place February 17 – 20, 2024 at Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas.
As a benefit to entrants, TEXSOM Awards enlisted the expertise and wisdom of judges from around the country and a professional production team to ensure accuracy and care for every beverage entered for evaluation. An invitation-only media team to include professional photographers and videographers were tasked with collecting attendee impressions, observing judging panels for additional insights, and general coverage of all activities. Over 60 production and media team members traveled from 14 US states to support the event and represented various trade segments, including on- and off-premise buyers, sommeliers, educators, media professionals, event producers, and local Dallas enthusiasts.
Entries were blind-tasted and judged by 39 renowned tastemakers from across the country. Of the entries judged, the judges awarded 974 medals: 44 Judges’ Selection medals, 58 Platinum medals, 126 Gold medals, 436 Silver medals, and 310 Bronze medals.
A total of 102 entries, demonstrating quality and unique character that are exceptional even amongst their medal-winning peers, received a Judges’ Selection nomination, which was elevated to Platinum medals. The Judges’ Selection nominees were subjected to head-to-head judging within expansive categories and 44 were awarded a Judges’ Selection medal and Best of Show as the highest award of the competition.
New to this year’s schedule was the first annual Silver and Bronze Tasting that served as a preview of results. Judges and production team members were invited to taste Silver and Bronze award-winning entries at the end
