, 2024 Hill Country Wine Symposium News

The 2024 Hill Country Wine Symposium held from February 5-7 was another success with educational seminars, exhibitors, wonderful Texas wine receptions, and of course, networking with other wine industry professionals. There was some news that came out of the Symposium too.

In the Texas Hill Country Wineries (TCHW) Annual Owners & General Membership Meeting, three new wineries were added as members:

Elisa Christopher Wines Portree Cellars Wine for the People

Wine for the People replaced Lost Draw Cellars in Fredericksburg since Lost Draw Wines is now only in Johnson City, so the total number of members is now 66.

One of the highlights every year of the Symposium is the reception held in the evening. At this year’s reception, Texas Hill Country Wineries announced three awards starting this year.

Tall Texan Lifetime Achievement

The Tall Texan Lifetime Achievement award is presented to an individual nominated from the Texas wine industry for their outstanding contributions to the Texas Hill Country Wine industry and Texas wine.

The nominee should be a longtime industry member whose commitment to and influence upon Texas wine has changed the face of the industry on a local, regional, and state-wide level.  The recipient’s history of involvement with THCW, experience, and contributions to Texas wine, and demeanor should exhibit the highest degree of professionalism, dedication and passion for Texas wine.

The first year’s recipient was Dr. Richard Becker of Becker Vineyards.
