Top Wineries of Australia 2024

Most top wines these days are expensive: Winery of the Year Yarra Yering for instance doesn’t produce much in the way of bargain bottles, but plenty of other top wineries do. Yarra Yering Chardonnay 2022

This is the finest, most alluring Australian chardonnay tasted this past year: an exercise in fruit purity, avoiding the funky sulphides so fashionable today, and it was a key factor in Yarra Yering making Winery of the Year. (AUD $130)

Henschke Keyneton Euphonium 2020

A blend of Eden & Barossa Valley shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, this is more affordable than Henschke’s top reds but also shouts ‘Henschke!’ and ‘Eden Valley!’, giving a glimpse of the style and elegance of those icon wines. (AUD $66)

Tyrrell’s Single Vineyard Belford Semillon 2017

Tyrrells’ top semillon, Vat 1, is now north of AUD $100, but the single-vineyard semillons are still keen value, especially considering their maturity at release. (AUD $55)
